Oserian Development Company

Founded in 1969, the Oserian Development Company LTD is located in the Rift Valley province, northwest of Nairobi. The climate is hot and dry with an unpredictable rainy season spanning from May to October. The area experiences ample sunshine, creating an ideal climate for growing flowers. Thus, 70 percent of Kenya’s exporting flower farms are located in area.

Kenyans in the Rift Valley region often do not have access to clean drinking water and poverty is rampant. Already high food prices continue to increase, making it difficult for Kenyans to provide for their families. Additionally, the lack of good infrastructure makes it difficult to access distant markets or jobs. Oserian became Fair Trade Certified™ to improve farmer livelihoods and showcase its commitment to positive farming practices.
