The Fair Trade premium has been very important to me. It has allowed me to buy additional land and afford an education for my daughter. I was also able to put a roof on my new house. Before, my wife, my daughter and my in-laws lived in a very rudimentary little house. Things have changed. I am very happy to be a part of COOPARM. ” Andres Lopez Gomez

Programs
Shade Grown Agriculture
Co-op members used Fair Trade premiums to plant trees and create shade for coffee plants.
Women Programs and Management Roles
The cooperative created a women's committee that organizes several activities to engage the female members of families. At COOPARM, women participate on the Board of Directors and in the decision-making process. One female member was appointed to oversee the northern region’s “Women in Coffee” conference. The women's group also focuses on garden maintenance and the raising of small animals.
New School Equipment
COOPARM supports education by providing new computers and supplies to local schools. In some cases, they have helped fund and construct new classrooms.
