Citrusdal - Bergandal Boerdery
Since 2004, Citrusdal Bergendal has been Fair Trade certified for wine, oranges, clementines, mandarins and mineolas, in addition to Rooibos tea. They also grow deciduous fruit, raise sheep and grow bucha, another herbal plant. The farm’s Joint Body recognizes the importance of training its workers and dedicates much of its resources to make workshops an integral part of their professional and social development. They regularly contract training organizations to offer several sessions throughout the year on topics including financial management, conflict resolution, food hygiene and health issues such as HIV/AIDS and STD awareness and prevention.

The circumstances we work under have changed. If chemicals are sprayed in the orchards, we are no longer allowed to work during that time. The premium money we receive improves life in the community. The workers receive training. This is all very good. ” Paul Afrikaner
