Herkulu - Herkulu Tea Estate
Although the Herkulu Tea Estate's most important cash crops are coffee and tea, they also produce maize, bananas, maniok, and beans for domestic consumption. Herkulu has a reputation among smallholders as being very responsible as it pays regularly and on time. Though founded in 1961, Herkulu has been certified organic since April 2002.

Roof sheeting and bicycles have been purchased for employees on the tea estates.
The cooperative runs a credit program to fund advances and offer zero percent interest loans to the farmers supplying green tea leaf to the Herkulu estate to be used for productive investments
School Programs and New Classroom Construction
The Herkulu Tea Estate runs an on-site nursery school for its workers' families. Additionally, the organization built new classrooms in nearby villages, provided roofing sheets and concrete floors for existing schools, and purchased tables, chairs and uniforms. With the increased revenue generated through the Fair Trade certification, many cooperative members are now about to send their children to secondary school.
