Medical Assistance Fund

The cooperative supports health care programs for all members.

Natural Disaster Emergency Fund

COCASJOL members designated portions of the Fair Trade premium towards an emergency management, or natural disaster preparedness fund which not only serves their community, but any victim of a natural disaster around the country and sometimes in foreign countries. In 2010, for example, this fund supported Haiti during their Earthquake relief efforts.

Electrical System Uprade for Office

The general assembly voted to use portions of the Fair Trade premium to upgrade the electrical system at the cooperative office.

Road Improvements

Excessive rainfall worsens the roads that connect communities and farmers in the region. COCASJOL is using Fair Trade funds for the regular maintenance of these roads to ensure producers can transport their coffee safely and efficiently.
