Planterra implemented a scholarship program to solve problems such as a high drop out rate due to lack of funds, lack of involvement due to under-qualified academic instructors, and a low motivation among children to perform well academically.
The scholarship program was designed to foster a study culture, to create incentives for academic involvement and to motivate workers to complete their academic education so they can develop a larger capacity for higher learning.
Scholarship funds do not have to be paid back and are used to pay enrollment fees and other educational expenses incurred by workers and their children. As a result, 6 workers graduated from high school or advanced education, 17 workers' children earned scholarships based on academic excellence, and 23 of 25 other students were inspired to continue studying after earning high school scholarships.
