Description:
The Yishui Xingye Groundnut Professional Association is a small farmer organization located in the Shandong Province of Eastern China. Shandong is the second most populated province in the country after Henan, with an estimated 92 million inhabitants. It ranks first, however, in the production of a variety of agricultural products including cotton, wheat and groundnuts. The region is characterized by mostly flat terrain and a temperate climate of moist summers and dry, cold winters. An estimated 58 farmers are members of the organization and work on a total of 272 hectares. Together, they yield an average of 450 metric tons of peanuts annually.
