Wow. This has been a seriously hot summer. Even here in the Pacific Northwest we've been seeing 100+ degree days. Yikes! Bring back our rainy days, please. What do do when the dog days of summer have you down? Cool down with Fair Trade, of course! Around here that usually means we've move from playing around outside (er, I mean "product testing") with a Fair Trade Certified soccer ball to inside. We like to use our mini ball - the one you see pictured here is above the desk of Transfair USA's Cate Barill - for indoor play as we tend to break less things in our office with the smaller ball. Although sometimes it seems as if we embedded a monitor-magnet into these mini balls. They make a beeline for the nearest computer monitor within two minutes of booting them around the office. Oops. To keep us cool while we're "product testing", we make our Fair Trade Certified tea on ice rather than hot. My favorite is Zhena's FTC green tea . Her son plays with our FTC soccer balls; we drink her FTC tea. It's a good trade. And on the weekends (hey, we're a start-up, we work *all* the time) we've been known to go redneck and put ice cubes in our Fair Trade Certified white wine . Oh my gosh, I can't believe I just admitted to doing that. All my FTC wine friends are going to razz me endlessly at the next Green Festival. Well, until they also get too hot and sneak some cubes in their glasses, too!
