Fair Trade Coffee Cooperatives in Peru and Colombia Receive Funding to Address Key Challenges in Quality and Productivity

We have the great pleasure of sharing with you the first two winners of our new Cooperative Small Grants Program, which offers Fair Trade Certified™ coffee cooperatives access to funding for specific capacity-building projects. The winners, APROCASSI from Peru and ASOPROKAN from Colombia, were awarded a combined $40,428 to improve crop productivity and quality management.

Behind the items we consume every day are farmers struggling to survive and support their families. Living in poor, rural regions of the world where paved roads and Internet access are rare, small-scale farmers who produce these items have little ability to negotiate fair prices for their products.
