Three amazing things one farm in Nicaragua can do because of Fair Trade

If you’ve ever wondered, “where does my money actually go when I buy a cup of Fair Trade coffee,” then this one’s for you. Nestled high at the top of a mountain in the tiny farming community of La Dalia, Nicaragua, rests Finca La Revancha. La Revancha is a family-owned coffee estate, with about 90 permanent workers (many more during the harvest). For the last year they’ve been working hard to meet the Fair Trade standards in order to become Central America's first Fair Trade Certified coffee estate.

However, Fair Trade is not the only solution to alleviating poverty. Fair Trade often works best when combined with efforts from other organizations with similar missions. And, the democratic structure fostered by Fair Trade standards makes these communities ideal beneficiaries for additional support.
