Support Mothers Around the World; Donate During Fair Trade Month

4410_ecuador_ecuador-flower-producers2Pregnant women workers on Fair Trade Certified flower farms are protected from doing tasks that threaten their health or the health of their baby. Fair Trade includes strict safety regulations for all workers. Farmers and workers on Fair Trade flower farms receive free protective clothing. At Hoja Verde - a Fair Trade flower farm in Ecuador – pregnant women wear special yellow vests to identify them and to ensure their wellbeing. These protections are not guaranteed on non-Fair Trade Certified flower farms.

Worker safety is just one of so many reasons Fair Trade USA is committed to bringing more farmers and workers into the global Fair Trade network. An independent non-profit, Fair Trade USA depends on funding from foundations, businesses, and individuals. Donations are used to support farmers and workers all along the supply chain - from soil to shelf. The process often starts with research, finding new products that would be good candidates for Fair Trade, and developing a network of farmers and workers who can supply these products. One of these new products is Fair Trade flowers from Ecuador. Our goal during Fair Trade Month is to raise 1,000 donations, large or small, and Fair Trade USA's board of directors is ready to help. If you make a donation of $15 or more this October, our board members have committed to match your contribution – doubling its dollar value and impact. The simple act of giving to Fair Trade USA multiplies in impact around the world. For every one dollar we spend, we are able to generate 5 dollars in extra income for farmer and worker families. Post a message to Fair Trade USA's Facebook page saying why you donated and you have the chance to win a $50 gift certificate to WorldofGood.com!
