albus_dumbledore The What Would Dumbledore Do (WWDD) Doctrine, a “living document” of daily lessons from Dumbledore, wrote a post on July 12 entitled “Support Fair Trade.” The post explains that Dumbledore’s disdain for the unethical treatment of the enslaved house elves who do the cooking and cleaning at Hogwarts is evidence that Dumbledore would have been equally disgusted by the fact that “in the United States, we are often indifferent to the fact that much of our food and clothing comes from sweat shop labor.” The post concludes that “both Hermione and Dumbledore would support the Fair Trade label.” The WWDD campaign was started this month to coincide with the release of the 6th Harry Potter movie, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, in which the much-revered Albus Dumbledore dies. The WWDD website  has this to say about the campaign: “the What Would Dumbledore Do campaign is about the entire Harry Potter fan community coming together to show our loyalty for the greatest Wizard who ever lived, with the hope of allowing the spirit of love and justice that Dumbledore stood for to live on in us and for that spirit to be translated toward the kind of transformation that humanity needs in these “dark and difficult times.”
