If you're in the Bay Area, dine out with friends and family at Oakland’s celebrated Doña Tomás restaurant on Wednesday, August 26th and TransFair USA will receive 10% of the evening’s sales! Dynamic local restaurants and nonprofits like TransFair USA have teamed up to help kick off Oakland’s very first Eat Real Festival, happening the weekend of August 28-30 in Jack London Square. The festival is a celebration of scrumptious local and regional foods: fresh summer fruits and veggies, handcrafted local beers and ice cream sold from the back of a bicycle! Festival entry and activities like live music are free. Keeping It Real fundraising dinners benefiting Bay Area nonprofits like TransFair USA are happening at nine different restaurants, including Doña Tomás, in the week leading up to the festival. Located on Telegraph in Oakland’s Temescal District, the arrival of Doña Tomás helped to revitalize that lively neighborhood. Doña Tomás is several worlds and three rooms in one: sophisticated restaurant with high ceilings, crimson red, festive bar and breezy outdoor café. Famous for its Mexican cuisine, restaurant chef owners pride themselves on serving authentic dishes with hard to find ingredients like dried chiles, huitlacoche and verdalogas. Enjoy a fabulous meal at Doña Tomás on August 26th and benefit TransFair USA and Fair Trade Certified™ with every fresh-squeezed lime margarita and mouth-watering carnitas that you order!
