Dinner at Doña's

A red dress was definitely the right choice! At the top of the the list of the many, many things I enjoy about my new job at TransFair USA is the excellent company of my co-workers. On Wednesday, August 26th, as part of Oakland’s very first Eat Real Festival, we took advantage of a special partnership with Oakland's Doña Tomás restaurant and went out to dinner after work. Doña Tomás showed support for Fair Trade by pledging to donate 10% of their proceeds from dinner to TransFair USA. It was a chance to thank them for their generosity and to get to know a few of my colleagues better, as well as meeting a few of their friendly spouses. Plus I got to sample the margarita especiale... yum! dona-re-do-import-095

The restaurant was packed with Fair Trade friends that night and yet we were still able to get a table inside for all 13 of us with view onto the patio. Doña Tomás has lots of breezy outdoor seating, or you can sit inside and admire the high ceilings and a bar area with festive red walls and decorations. The wait staff was welcoming and the owner herself, Doña, was on her feet in stylish heels greeting people at the door, delivering dishes hot from the kitchen and stopping to chat with guests at their tables.  It was a wonderful evening of food, friends and laughter-- all to benefit TransFair USA, Fair Trade and farming families around the world.

Do you have a favorite bar, restaurant, or club that would be interested in hosting Fair Trade for a night? Let us know!
