I just got off a red eye from San Francisco to the Dominican Republic.  Many people think of the DR as the hot vacation destination of this season, but you might not know that it's also the location of one of the best known Fair Trade cocoa coops--Conacado. In celebration of Fair Trade Month, TransFair USA hosted a special event in a special place – The HUB Bay Area.
The Incas called quinoa “the mother of all grains.” They held the crop to be sacred and would have their emperor sow the first seeds of the season using golden tools. Quinoa has such high nutritional content that NASA was considering including it in the astronauts’ diet aboard space flights.
